Petits Fours(For Receptions And Teas) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. butter
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    3 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    3 c. sifted all-purpose flour
    1 Tbsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 c. milk
    1/2 c. water
    1/2 c. light corn syrup
    1 tsp. lemon extract
    2 or 3 drops yellow food coloring
    2 (1 lb.) boxes confectioners sugar
    red cinnamon candies
    green candied cherries, sliced
Preparation
    Cream butter in mixing bowl.
    Add sugar gradually; beat until light and fluffy.
    Beat in eggs, one at a time.
    Stir in vanilla. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together.
    Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk.
    Spread evenly in buttered and floured 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1-inch jelly roll pan.
    Bake in preheated 350\u00b0 oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until done; cool in pan on wire rack for 10 minutes.
    Remove from pan; finish cooling on wire rack. Cover with towel.
    Cut into diamond shapes when ready to frost.
