P J'S Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. beef stew, cubed
    1 c. celery, chopped
    8 carrots (1/2-inch pieces)
    3/4 lb. fresh green beans
    1 lb. can whole stewed tomatoes
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    3 Tbsp. tapioca
    garlic to taste
    1 medium green pepper, chopped
    1 large onion, chopped
    4 medium potatoes, cubed
    1 (8 oz.) can water chestnuts
    1 bay leaf (remove later)
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    Brown stew meat over medium heat until lightly browned; add 1/2 cup water to pan.
    Stir to loosen drippings.
    Place browned meat in a large roasting pan and mix in all remaining ingredients. Cover and bake in oven for 3 1/2 hours at 300\u00b0.
    Makes 6 servings.
