Mile-High Biscuits - cooking recipe

3 c. all-purpose flour
2 Tbsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. plus 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. cream of tartar
3/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. shortening (butter-flavor Crisco)
1 egg, beaten
3/4 c. milk
Preparation

Combine first 5 ingredients, mixing well; cut in shortening with pastry blender or fork until mixture resembles coarse meal. Combine egg and milk;
add to flour mixture, stirring until dry ingredients are moistened.
