Peanut Gingerbread With Lemon Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/2 c. sugar (white or brown)
    1 egg
    3/4 c. molasses
    2 c. flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. ginger
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 c. milk
    1 c. ground, roasted peanuts
Preparation
    Cream shortening; add
    sugar,
    egg
    and molasses.
    Sift flour; measure.
    Add baking powder, soda, ginger, cinnamon and salt. Sift together again.
    Combine ingredients.\tAdd milk in gradually as you combine
    the
    shortening
    and flour mixtures, mixing well. Add peanuts
    last,\treserving two tablespoons to sprinkle over top.
    Bake for 20
    to
    30
    minutes\tin a 350\u00b0 to 375\u00b0 oven.
    Serve warm
    or
    cold
    with
    favorite sauce.
    Lemon Sauce is excellent.
