German Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 to 2 gal. pickles
    1 gal. cold water
    1 c. salt
    1 gal. cold water
    2 Tbsp. alum
    10 c. sugar
    4 c. white vinegar
    3 Tbsp. pickle spices
Preparation
    Place pickles, 1 gallon cold water and salt in a churn.
    Let stand 8 days in this saltwater.
