Piney Wood Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. cornmeal
    1 tsp. baking soda
    dash of salt
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
    1 Tbsp. baking powder
    1 egg, beaten
    2 c. buttermilk
Preparation
    Mix all dry ingredients; beat milk and egg together and combine with dry ingredients; batter should hold its shape when picked up with a spoon. If dough is too soft, add more cornmeal. Drop by spoonfuls into hot oil. Cook about 1 1/2 minutes on one side; turn and cook on other side for 1 minute. Makes about 45 hush puppies.
