Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe

1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 Tbsp. cocoa
1 oz. red food coloring
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. buttermilk
2 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. vinegar
1 tsp. baking soda
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar together.
Add eggs and beat well. Make paste with cocoa and food coloring; add to cream mixture. Mix salt, vanilla and buttermilk and add alternately with flour to creamed mixture.
Mix soda and vinegar and fold into the mixture. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes in 2 (9-inch) layer pans, greased and floured.
