Ingredients
    1/4 c. shortening or vegetable oil
    1 c. packed brown sugar
    1 egg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3/4 c. all-purpose or whole wheat flour*
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    *If using self-rising flour, omit baking powder and salt.
