Strawberry Shortcake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2/3 c. sugar
1/4 c. shortening
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. milk
whipped cream
1 1/2 qt. fresh or frozen strawberries
Preparation

In a mixing bowl, cream sugar and shortening.
Add eggs and vanilla; beat well.
Combine dry ingredients and add alternately with milk to the creamed mixture.
Spread in a greased 9-inch square pan.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes.
Cool on wire rack.
Cut into 9 servings.
Split each serving horizontally and fill with whipped cream and strawberries.
Replace top of cake; garnish with berries and whipped cream.
Serve immediately.
