Layered Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head of lettuce, broken
    1/2 c. green pepper, chopped
    1 onion, diced (1 green bunch)
    1 (10 ounce) package frozen peas thawed, but not cooked
    2 c. Hellmann's mayonnaise, mixed with 2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 (4 ounce) package sharp cheddar cheese, grated
    6 to 8 strips bacon, fried and crumbled
    salt
    Parmesan cheese grated
Preparation
    In a bowl, layer first 8 ingredients in order given.
    Chill for 24 hours.
    When ready to serve, salt to taste; toss with parmesan cheese.
    Serves 8 to 10.
    Must be made a day ahead.
