French Onion Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 c. thinly sliced Spanish onions
    1/4 tsp. sugar
    1/4 c. butter
    3 (10 1/2 oz.) cans beef broth
    3 cans water
    1/2 tsp. salt
    pepper to taste
    1/2 c. grated Swiss cheese
    2 Tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese
Preparation
    Saute onions with sugar in the butter until tender.
    Add broth and water.
    Cover and simmer gently for 45 minutes.
    Add salt and pepper.
    Place in individual bowls.
    Top with toasted slice of French bread.
    Sprinkle cheeses over the tops of bread.
    Place bowl under broiler until lightly browned.
    Serve and enjoy a salad along side.
