7 Layer Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce, shredded
    1 c. chopped celery
    1 c. chopped green pepper
    1 c. chopped purple onion
    1 c. English peas, drained
    2 c. mayonnaise
    1 1/2 tsp. sugar
    2 c. grated Cheddar cheese
    bacon bits
Preparation
    Layer the vegetables in the order listed in a deep bowl. Do not toss. Spread mayonnaise evenly over top. Sprinkle with sugar, then cheese and bacon bits. Cover tightly and refrigerate overnight. Toss before serving.
