Sauerbraten - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 beef roast (about 4 lb.)
    1 onion (whole)
    4 c. water
    4 beef bouillon cubes
    1/3 c. apple cider vinegar
    1/3 c. brown sugar, packed
    gingersnap cookies (to thicken gravy)
Preparation
    Roll roast in flour and brown with a little oil in Dutch oven (large cooking pot). Add all other ingredients, except gingersnaps, and simmer 3 to 4 hours or all day in crock-pot. Add gingersnaps to thicken gravy. Meat will shred it is so tender.
