Ingredients

1 c. flake coconut
1/2 c. pecans, chopped
1/3 c. packed light brown sugar
3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
3 Tbsp. evaporated milk
2 Tbsp. light corn syrup
1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened
1 c. plus 2 Tbsp. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/4 c. plus 2 Tbsp. unsifted all-purpose flour
1/3 c. Hershey's cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk or sour milk*
Preparation

Line two 8-inch layer pans with foil; butter foil.
Combine coconut, pecans, brown sugar, 3 tablespoons melted butter, the evaporated milk and corn syrup in a small bowl.
Divide mixture and spread evenly over bottom of each pan.
