Cracker Torte - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 egg whites
    1 c. sugar
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. vanilla
    20 finely crushed Ritz crackers
    1 c. chopped nuts
    8 cherries, cut up
    ice cream or whipped cream
Preparation
    Beat egg whites until stiff; gradually beat in sugar.
    Fold in baking powder and vanilla.
    Fold in crackers, nuts and cherries. Place in a greased 9-inch pie pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes.
    Top with sweetened whipped cream and chill for at least 3 hours or omit whipped cream and top with vanilla ice cream.
    Makes 6 to 8 servings.
