Corky'S Pulled Butter Mints - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. white sugar
    1 stick butter
    3/4 c. cold water
    7 drops oil of peppermint
    about 7 drops food coloring
Preparation
    Combine first 3 ingredients in heavy saucepan.
    Stir until mixture dissolves and starts cooking.
    Do not stir again.
    Place candy thermometer in and cook on medium-high heat until 279\u00b0 (soft crack).
    Pour on a cold buttered marble slab.
    Pour flavoring and color on candy.
