Gingerbread Boys Or Girls - cooking recipe

Ingredients

5 c. flour
1 12/ tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. cloves
1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. molasses or syrup
2 tsp. vinegar
raisins, red hots or confetti cake decorations

Preparation

Sift dry ingredients together.
Cream shortening and sugar. Stir in egg, syrup and vinegar; beat well.
Chill.
Roll in pecan size balls using 3 balls for each boy or girl.
Place on greased baking sheet.
Press one ball with thumb to flatten for head, roll one into straight \"rope\" for arms and another for the legs.
Use raisins or red hots for eyes and buttons.
I like to use confetti cake decor because of the color and they do not melt like red hots.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.
