Foolproof Fudge - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 c. sugar
    2 sticks margarine
    1 large can Carnation milk
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. vanilla
    1 (12 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preparation
    Bring sugar, margarine, milk and salt to a boil.
    Boil for 6 minutes.
    Remove from heat; add vanilla and chocolate chips.
    Beat until chips are dissolved.
    Add nuts, if desired.
    Pour into glass pie plate or bowls.
    Makes 3 pounds.
