Sweet And Sour Cabbage - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. water
    1/2 c. white vinegar
    3/4 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    3 lb. solid head cabbage, sliced thin
    1 Tbsp. pure lard
    1 small onion
    1 tsp. flour
Preparation
    Combine water, vinegar, sugar and salt and bring to a boil; set aside.
    Cover sliced cabbage with fresh water and bring to a boil.
    Drain and return cabbage to pot.
    Add sweet and sour mixture to cabbage.
    Melt lard in small frypan.
    Add tip of small onion. Remove onion as soon as it browns.
    While stirring lard, add flour.
    Stir and keep smooth (don't brown).
    Add lard mixture to cabbage.
    Stir and simmer 40 to 45 minutes.
