Pecan Pie With Maple Cream Topping - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. maple syrup
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/4 c. (1/2 stick) margarine or butter
    1 1/2 c. pecans, chopped or halved
    1 unbaked (9-inch) pie shell
    3 eggs, slightly beaten
    1 tsp. vanilla
    dash of salt
    whipped cream topping (optional)
Preparation
    Heat oven to 375\u00b0.
    Heat syrup, margarine and sugar in a 2-quart saucepan to a gentle boil, uncovered, for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    Let cool slightly.
