Old-Fashioned Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. beef cubes
    2 cans Franco-American beef gravy
    4 medium potatoes, halved
    4 medium carrots, quartered
    8 small whole white onions
    salt
    pepper
Preparation
    In large heavy pan, brown meat in shortening; pour off fat. Add gravy, 1 teaspoon salt and a dash of pepper.
    Cover and simmer 1 1/2 hours.
    Add vegetables and cook 1 hour more or until tender. Stir.
    Makes about 7 cups.
