Open-Face Pear Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    unbaked 9-inch pie shell
    4 medium pears
    juice of 1 lemon
    1/4 c. butter
    1 c. sugar
    1/4 c. flour
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3 eggs
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. ground mace
    whipped cream (optional)
Preparation
    Use fully ripe Bartlett pears.
