Date-Nut Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 (16 oz.) pkg. dates, chopped fine
1 tsp. soda
2 c. boiling water
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. nuts, chopped fine

Preparation

Mix first 3 ingredients and cool.
Mix remaining ingredients. Mix both mixtures together and bake at 325\u00b0 about 30 minutes. Leave in oblong pan.
