Fresh Strawberry Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 pt. strawberries, divided
    1 c. sugar
    2 1/2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    water
    1 baked single-crust pie shell
Preparation
    Mash 1 pint strawberries; add sugar.
    Bring to a boil and thicken with cornstarch mixed with a bit of water.
    Allow to cool. Slice 1 pint strawberries into pie shell.
    Pour thickened berries over uncooked berries.
    Chill; serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
