Red Heart Candy Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    7 large cucumbers, peeled and seeded
    1 c. pickling lime
    1 c. white vinegar
    1 or 2 drops of red food coloring
    2 c. cider vinegar (brown)
    1 c. water
    7 c. sugar
    8 sticks cinnamon
    1 pkg. of candy hearts
Preparation
    Mix lime and enough water to cover the cucumbers.
    Let stand 24 hours.
    Drain and rinse in cold water until clear.
    Drain.
    Mix food coloring, white vinegar and water to cover cucumbers.
    Simmer 2 hours.
    Drain.
    Mix other ingredients.
    Bring to boil, pour over pickles and let stand 3 days, stirring occasionally.
    Put in kettle and bring to boil.
    Pack in hot jars.
