Old Fashioned Vegetable Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. beef or chicken broth
    2 c. tomatoes (16 oz. can)
    1/2 c. water
    1/3 c. chopped onions
    1/3 c. chopped celery
    1/2 to 1 c. cubed potatoes
    1/2 to 1 c. sliced carrots
    1 c. peas or corn (8 oz. can)
    1 c. shredded cabbage
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1/8 tsp. basil
Preparation
    Bring broth to a boil in a large pot, then add vegetables and seasonings; bring to a second boil.
    Cover and simmer 45 minutes. Serves 6.
