Potato Pancakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 large baking potatoes
    3/4 c. flour
    2 eggs
    1 medium onion
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    dash of garlic powder
Preparation
    Peel and grate potatoes and onion.
    Leave mixture in bowl until water from vegetables rises to top.
    Skim off and discard.
    Add eggs, flour and seasonings; mix well.
    Drop by spoonfuls into hot shortening and flatten mixture until pancake is 4-inches in diameter.
    Fry until golden brown.
    Drain on paper towels.
    Serve with applesauce or sour cream.
