Lentil Soup With Frankfurters - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 large onions
    1 stalk celery, diced
    1 leek, sliced
    1 medium potato, peeled and cubed
    3 slices bacon, diced
    1 Tbsp. butter
    1 c. lentils
    1 carrot, diced
    4 frankfurters, thickly sliced
    salt to taste
    1 Tbsp. catsup
    3 qt. water or chicken broth
Preparation
    Place onions, celery, leek, potatoes, diced bacon and butter in a heavy kettle.
    Saute until soft, but not brown.
    Wash and drain lentils.
    Add them to potatoes with carrots, sliced franks, salt, catsup and water or chicken broth.
    Bring to a boil, lower heat and simmer, covered, for 3 hours or until lentils are soft. Add more water as needed.
    Recipe can be prepared in crock-pot or slow cooker according to manufacturer's directions.
    Serves 8.
