Ingredients

1 Tbsp. grated lemon rind
1 1/4 c. lemon juice
4 c. sugar
5 c. whipping cream
4 c. half and half
Preparation

Combine first 3 ingredients, stirring until sugar dissolves. Stir in whipping cream and half and half.
Pour mixture into freezer container of a 1-gallon hand-turned or electric freezer. Freeze according to manufacturer's instructions.
Pack freezer with additional ice and rock salt and let stand 1 hour before serving.
Makes 3 quarts.
