Cherry Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 1/4 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/3 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1/4 c. maraschino cherry juice
16 maraschino cherries, cut fine
1/2 c. milk
1/2 to 2/3 c. egg whites (4 large eggs)
1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation

Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.
Add shortening, cherry juice, cherries and milk.
Beat 2 minutes and add egg whites.
Beat 2 minutes more.
Fold in chopped nuts.
Pour into 2 (8-inch) layer pans, greased and floured.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes.
