Ingredients

1 c. sugar
1 pt. cherries
1 egg
1 tsp. butter
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. flour
pinch of salt
Preparation

Put 1 cup sugar over cherries.
Let stand until you make the batter.
Cream together egg, butter and sugar; add flour, baking powder and salt.
Add milk and mix well.
Pour batter into a greased baking dish, then pour cherries on top of batter.
Pour 3/4 cup boiling water over all.
Do not stir at all.
Bake in moderate oven.
