Icicle Pickles - cooking recipe
Ingredients

7 lb. big yellow cucumbers (looks like ready to throw away)
1 box powdered alum
1 qt. lime
3 lb. pickling salt
1/2 box pickling spice (tie up in a cloth)
Preparation

Take seeds out of peeled cucumbers and cut in strips.
This will make a dishpan full.
Fill dishpan of pickle strips full of water (cold).
Add lime and let set in lime water for 12 to 17 hours.
Stir occasionally, being careful not to break pickles. Keep covered tightly.
Pour lime water off and wash pickles. Handle carefully.
