Summer Squash Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 c. sliced yellow squash
    1 medium onion
    1/2 c. margarine, divided
    approximately 15 to 16 saltine crackers, crushed and divided (2 squares each)
    2 eggs
    1/2 c. milk
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    salt and pepper to taste
    1 generous c. sharp cheese, diced
Preparation
    Cook squash and onion in salted water until tender.
    Drain well. Add margarine (reserving 2 tablespoons to dot top).
    Mash until smooth.
    Add 2/3 of crackers, eggs, milk, sugar, salt and pepper and mix well.
    Add cheese.
