Apple Harvest Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. sugar, divided
    1/2 c. butter or margarine
    4 c. sliced, peeled apples
    2 Tbsp. lemon juice
    1 tsp. ground cinnamon
    1 egg, lightly beaten
    1/3 c. evaporated milk
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    3/4 c. chopped nuts
    1 1/3 c. flaked coconut
    3/4 c. butter (at room temperature)
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 c. flour
    1 1/2 c. shredded coconut
    8 oz. apricot preserves
    1 c. walnuts, chopped
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Cream butter, sugar, egg and vanilla. Mix in salt, flour and coconut and stir well.
    Reserve 3/4 cup for topping.
    Spread the rest in a greased 9 x 11-inch pan.
    Spread apricot preserves over mixture.
    Sprinkle nuts over preserves. Crumble reserved 3/4 cup dough over top.
    Bake 30 minutes.
    Cool slightly and cut into 24 bars.
