Applesauce Fruit Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. flour
    1 1/4 c. sugar
    3/4 c. butter
    2 c. warm applesauce
    1 c. raisins
    1 c. chopped nuts
    1 c. chopped dates (optional)
    1 tbsp. cocoa
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. allspice
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 c. sour milk
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 lb. candied fruit
    1 c. coconut
    2 to 3 tsp. grated orange rind (optional)
Preparation
    Cream butter; add warm applesauce.
    Add sour milk in which soda has been dissolved.
    Sift dry ingredients together and add to first mixture.
    Add fruits and nuts which have been dredged in flour.
    Add coconut and grated orange rind.
    Pour into well-greased and floured cake pan or 5 (1-pound) tins.
    Bake in very moderate oven (305\u00b0 to 325\u00b0) about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
