Raisin Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. seedless raisins
    2 c. sugar
    3/4 c. shortening
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. cloves
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. baking soda
    1 1/2 c. cold water
    4 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
Preparation
    Cook raisins in 2 cups of water for the cake.
    Cream sugar and shortening; add hot raisins.
    Sift flour, spices, salt and baking powder together.
    Add flour and cold water and beat for 3 minutes.
    Add soda dissolved in about 1/2 c. warm water from raisins.
    Pour into oblong pan, greased and lined with wax paper. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 50 to 60 minutes.
