Ingredients

1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1/4 c. butter or margarine, softened
3/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
2/3 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/3 c. chopped nuts
1 (1 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
1/2 tsp. peppermint extract

Preparation

Cream together the cream cheese, butter and sugar.
Beat in eggs.
Stir together the flour, baking powder and salt; stir into creamed mixture.
Spoon half of the butter into another bowl. Stir in nuts and chocolate.
Drop chocolate and batter from tablespoon in checkerboard fashion into greased 9 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
