Danish Pastry Apple Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. shortening
    1 egg yolk plus enough milk to make 2/3 c.
    corn flakes
    8 to 10 apples, sliced
    1 c. sugar
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 egg white, slightly beaten, plus 1 Tbsp. water
Preparation
    Combine flour, salt, shortening, egg yolk and milk.
    Mix as for pie crust.
    Divide pastry into 2 portions and roll 1/2 to line a 10 1/2 x 15 1/2-inch tray.
    Sprinkle about 2 handfuls of corn flakes on pastry.
    Spread apple slices on dough.
    Mix sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over apples.
    Roll out other half of dough and place on top of apples.
    Brush top with egg white and water mixture.
    Bake at 400\u00b0 until brown.
    Frost with powdered sugar frosting.
