Missionary Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. sugar
2 c. water
1 c. raisins
1 c. shortening
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. nuts (optional)

Preparation

Combine ingredients.
Put in large pan and boil for 2 minutes. Let mixture cool.
Add two teaspoons baking soda and 3 cups flour.
Layer or loaf.
Bake at 350\u00b0.
Powdered sugar icing may be used.
