Shoo-Fly Pie - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3/4 c. flour
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1/8 tsp. ginger
1/8 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. shortening
1/2 c. molasses
1 egg yolk, beaten
1/2 Tbsp. soda
3/4 c. boiling water
1 (9-inch) unbaked pie shell
Preparation

Combine flour, sugar, spices and salt; work in shortening until crumbly.
Combine molasses, egg yolk and soda dissolved in boiling water.
Alternate layers of crumb mixture and egg mixture in pastry shell; top with crumb mixture.
Bake at 450\u00b0 until crust edges start to brown.
Reduce heat to 350\u00b0 for 20 minutes or until firm.
