Bishops Apples - cooking recipe
Ingredients

6 Winesap apples or other cooking apples
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. water
1/4 c. red wine or sherry
3 Tbsp. butter
2 tsp. cornstarch
1 stick cinnamon, broken into pieces
red food coloring
Preparation

Peel and quarter apples.
Mix together other ingredients. Pour over apples in a 9 x 12-inch baking dish.
Bake at 275\u00b0 for 1 hour.
Baste every now and then.
Serve warm or cold with ham, pork roast or chops or barbecue.
