Corn Sticks Or Corn Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. meal
    1 tsp. each: salt and baking powder
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 egg
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1/2 tsp. sugar (optional)
Preparation
    Sift dry ingredients together.
    Add buttermilk, well beaten egg and shortening.
    Pour into well-greased frying pan or corn stick pan.
    Bake in hot oven at 350\u00b0 for about 25 minutes or until brown.
    Can be made with sweet milk, but omit soda.
