Marinara Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. olive oil
    2 garlic cloves (or instant)
    2 c. finely chopped onions (or instant)
    3 1/2 c. Italian plum tomatoes (1 lb. 12 oz. can)
    2 c. tomato puree (one 15 oz. can)
    1 1/2 c. tomato paste (one 12 oz. can)
    1/2 c. water or meat stock or wine
    1 tsp. each: dried basil and oregano
    1/2 tsp. ground sage
    1 tsp. salt
    freshly ground black pepper
Preparation
    Heat the oil in a large saucepan and add the garlic and onions.
    Cook, stirring until the onions are light brown.
    Add the tomatoes, tomato puree, tomato paste, water and seasonings. Simmer for 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
    Leftover sauce may be frozen.
