Canadian War Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. dark brown sugar
    4 Tbsp. Crisco
    2 sticks butter or margarine
    1 tsp. all spice
    dash of salt
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 box seedless raisins
    4 c. self rising flour
    1 tsp. soda
Preparation
    Mix sugar, crisco, butter, spices, salt, raisins and boil 5 minutes.
    Let cool.
    Add 4 c. sifted flour.
    Add a heaping tsp. of soda dissolved in 2 Tbsp. warm water.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 until toothpick comes out clean.
    About 30-45 minutes.
