Ingredients

1 c. brown sugar
2 c. water
1 Tbsp. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
raisins and nuts (optional)
milk
Preparation

Make a syrup of the brown sugar, water and butter.
Mix remaining dry ingredients and add enough milk to make a stiff dough.
Drop rounded tablespoons of dumpling dough into boiling syrup.
Boil until done, 12 to 15 minutes.
Serve hot or cold.
