Chili Vesuvius - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. hamburger (lean)
    1 (28 oz.) can crushed tomatoes
    1 (14 1/2 oz.) can stewed tomatoes
    3 (15 oz.) cans dark red kidney beans
    1 (16 oz.) bottle hot salsa
    1 (10 oz.) can diced tomatoes with green chiles
    3 stalks celery, diced
    1 medium onion, diced
    1 green pepper, diced
    2 tsp. sugar
    1 tsp. cayenne pepper
    6 tsp. good quality chili powder or to taste
    2 cloves crushed garlic
    1 tsp. each: basil and oregano
    2 Tbsp. olive oil
Preparation
    Brown hamburger; drain fat.
    Saute garlic and vegetables in olive oil.
    Combine drained hamburger with tomatoes, beans and salsa.
    Add spices and herbs, including salt and pepper to taste. Add sauteed vegetables; do not drain olive oil, add to mixture. Bring to boil; reduce heat and simmer 1 to 2 hours to suit. Serves 10+ hearty appetites.
    Serve with Italian bread.
