J L H Chunky Tomato Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 (10 3/4 oz.) cans condensed tomato soup
    2 soup cans milk
    1 c. diced tomatoes (fresh or canned)
    1/4 c. diced onion
    2 large dried bay leaves
    1 tsp. dried oregano
    1 Tbsp. dried basil leaves
    1/2 tsp. dried thyme
    dash of pepper
    1/4 lb. bacon, fried crisp, drained and crumbled (save fat)
Preparation
    Saute onion in a bit of butter.
    Set aside.
    Mix bacon fat (amount is optional) with onion and butter.
    In a large saucepan, combine the soup, milk, tomatoes and seasonings.
    Heat on medium, stirring often.
    Add some of the soup to the bacon fat and blend. Stir this into the pot of soup.
    Continue heating but do not boil. Stir often.
    Add bacon.
    Makes 6 to 7 cups.
