Christina Straley'S Gingerbread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter and lard, mixed
1 egg
1 c. molasses
1 c. hot water
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar.
Add beaten egg and molasses. Then add dry ingredients which have been sifted together.
Add hot water.
Beat until smooth.
Bake in greased shallow pan 40 to 45 minutes in a 350\u00b0 oven.
Makes 15 portions.
