Rolls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 yeast cake
    1 1/4 c. milk
    4 c. flour, sifted
    1 egg
    1 tsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    4 level tsp. shortening
Preparation
    Soak yeast cake in lukewarm milk for 10 minutes.
    Add all other ingredients, stirring mixture into soft dough.
    (Add more milk, if needed.)
    Let rise until mixture has doubled in bulk (about 2 hours).
    Knead or stir well; shape into rolls.
    Place in well-greased pan.
    Let rise until rolls have doubled in bulk (about 1 hour).
    Bake in moderate oven for 20 to 25 minutes. Yields 24 rolls.
