Kahlua - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. boiling water
    3 3/4 c. sugar
    2 oz. instant coffee crystals
    4 tsp. vanilla
    750 ml bottle vodka
    1 vanilla bean
Preparation
    Pour sugar into boiling water; boil 5 minutes.
    Remove from heat and stir in instant coffee.
    Add vanilla, one teaspoon at a time.
    Mix until everything is dissolved.
    Place back over heat and bring to boil.
    Remove from heat again and allow to cool several minutes.
    Stir in vodka.
    Split vanilla bean and place in 1/2 gallon container.
    Pour mixture into container.
    Cap and ferment at room temperature at least 2 weeks.
